i really dont watch gay anime though because i really do think their too awkward... and such a bad bad way..

he from Wells and he a teacher at a all girl acadamy in japan. and (depending on which version u see) he kisses everyone of them.
so im sure he not gay so dont make accusations with proper support chloe. just because an anime has a guy that look "cute" doesnt mean that guy is gay

is he an anime version of harry potter?

he has the accent of harry potter but besides that no.
(backstory)
the story goes is his father was a Great wizard called 1000s Master cause he mastered 1000 spells. Something happen to him and he disappered but one day when negi town was attack 1000s master (or somebody who looked like him, it doesnt say who) saved them and gave negi 1000s master staff. From then on negi pledge to be a great mage like his father.
(where the anime/manga starts)
After graduating from the wizard school thing at the age of 11-13, negi was assigned an assignment (job) to further his wizard training. His job was to teach English (not sure if its the same in all versions) to about 38 completely different girls who are like 2-3 years older (if im correct) . the girls ranged from a robot, mad scientist, a vampire, cheerleaders, the President dauther, demons, a ninja and more. (as far as he is concern) he cant reveal his secret or he lose his magic and (in some versions) turn into an animal. alot of problems arise in the school (like vampire girl attacks others or all the girls get sucked into a magic world and crap like that) and this forces negi to make contracts with the girls (which gives them an co-splay outfit (similar to there hobbies)) and the girls get powers for like as long as he invokes there contract. Now guess how the contract is made. by a kiss. but the kiss has to be on the lips for it to be effective at all. yep that raps up whats its about without spoiling too much

he is a mage (uses light, wind, and sometimes lightning)
the anime is cool until he kisses all the girls (then it just sucks) and i believe it the same for the manga version base off the anime
i prefer the original version because it has better content and plot.

He is ugly anyways I wouldnt use him for a sig. BTW, you can get lightning in magic by compressing Air, so lightning falls under the Air element and all those who use it. I, for example, use both cyclones to blow meO away and lightning to eletrocute him So bassicaly, the wind mage uses Air and Light, which makes him a Zeomancer.

thats like saying because light brings life to plants, a light mage can make plants grow out of the ground...

what u are explain is the birth of different magics.
just because u are a wind mage doesnt mean u have the skills to control different elements and light is a different element all together. And lightning as nothing to do wind, air u can get away with it but wind is the motion of air atom from a area of high pressure to an area of low pressure.

and to learn the other elements takes great skill because of the different forms of energy

Okie, but why are you calling me a wind mage? Aeromancy is the control of Air, which means control over both lightning and wind. Also, the manga magician doesnt need to have great power to master both wind and lightning (Air) and light, because he is obviously a Zeomancer. Zeomancers use lightning and wind by completely different means than Aeromancers, because they fall under the group of Invoker-type wizards. Zeomancers do not CREATE lightning, they INVOKE the natural forces of the sky and call down lightning, wind currents and light altogether. They themselves do not create these elements and thus have less control over the intensity or the kind of power they are invoking. Their power is in connecting with the natural flows of the sky to make the sky create lightning for them (together with wind and light).
